Wood Wise Cabins

We are open all year round, all seasons offer their charm and opportunities. Many of our winter guests take the opportunity to take a winter bath!

The lake

Here at Wood Wise Cabins, you always have free access to a rowing boat to get around our lake Krokvattnet. It glides along as easily in the water as the largemouth bass and largemouth bass that you can see with a bit of luck. A canoe and two kayaks are also available, suitable for exploring the islands. Maybe you can find the ancient log boats at the bottom of the lake? The hook water has clear and clean water, wonderfully refreshing for quick dips and swims. Or why not try your luck at fishing?

The forest

In late summer and autumn, you can pick the freezer full of mushrooms and berries, or why not try to find red-listed species and signal species in our biologically valuable forest? Many of the small wood mushrooms and lichens you can almost only see with a magnifying glass (you can borrow one from us), but they are incredibly beautiful and fascinating!

The campfire

Next to the water we have a nice fireplace where you can grill or just enjoy looking into the flames surrounded by the sounds of the forest. With a bit of luck, you will hear the hooting of the barn owl when darkness falls, we have several owls in the area. Firewood is of course available on site.

Hiking

The forest is also perfect for both short and long hikes. The view from our own mountain Ebberudsknatten is fantastic! Wandering around our 40 hectares can be ”good enough”, but if you want to see and experience more of Dalsland, you can continue from us and wander to, among other things, Skärbo nature reserve with the help of a map.

Miscellaneous

There are many alternative activities, everything from an art walk in Dalsland, Åmål’s Bluesfest, Dalsland’s canoe marathon, Dalsland’s canal, high-altitude courses, Dalsland Swimrun, Dalsland X-Trail and much more. Why not use a glass house as a base for a few days’ excursions in the area?

But don’t forget to take it easy!

Activities in all their glory, don’t forget to relax in the hammock next to the glass house. It is also time well spent!

Merci!”

"This was the best airbnb I ever stayed at. My boyfriend, dog and I had an amazing time. The little house is very cosy and we woke up with a little rain, which made it extra special and idyllic. The (stress relief) thick blankets were very comfortable and nice to sleep under. The breakfast was deliciously and everything we wished for, with self baked cookies and fresh fruit from the forrest/garden. They also have a very cute yet big dog which made us very happy. My dog also loved him even though he’s very picky on who he likes. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming. They made us feel at home immediately and even had a lovely surprise! Hopefully we’ll come back in the future (when the chickens are running around their berry garden)."
